What days is the Flamenco??
An independent, kind of unique place where they have comedy nights on Tuesdays, and Flamenco nights from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Good selection of foods and drinks to see the shows.
MoreThere are few greater supporters of the arts in Vancouver. Steve literally bought the cafe to ensure creatives had a venue to explore and showcase. Add to that the beer is cold and the staff are fantastic. Can’t do much better for a great night out. You’re dollar supports a local business and local artists. That’s what we call a “twofer”.
MorePerformances are amazing, staff are so helpful, great environment, tbh the food was just ok but totally worth it and affordable. Five stars.
MoreMy favourite restaurant. The staff is amazing, goes above and beyond. The biggest gem in Vancouver. The Tuesday comedy shows are always so fun and have great people on them. Food is always very good. Staff is always always amazing.
MoreWonderful bar with live performances and the friendliest owner! He was excited to talk to my friends and I about Tuesday comedy nights. Drinks and food were amazing as well - no complaints :)
MoreGreat service and a fabulous host/owner! Love the “cheers style”welcoming neighborly attitude Monday’s Open Mike is a hoot! Try the tapenade 😋I’ll be back for Flamenco 💃🏼 night! Thank you Steve
MoreAn amazing place with an excellent attendance and delicious food
One of the best spots in the city for Beer and Standup Comedy!
We were there last night ,good atmosphere, entertaining and professional dance and live music.
MoreLovely Lil neighborhood spot, tasty food and drinks. Flamingo dancing was awesome!
MoreThe food was a very reasonable price for a large portion. The quality of food was above what you would expect for the price. Service was friendly.
MoreThere was no functional lock on the bathroom door when we were there which was very irksome. They could up their game with respect to their menu but what we ordered we liked. The flamenco was very enjoyable and the overall experience made for a pleasant evening out.
MoreGreat spot for comedy.
Was my first time on stage this open mic Monday. And I really enjoyed myself a lot. Got to see Robert Peng do 4 min and I was so damn nervous. Was a bit intimidating but this is the life I want. Comedy. And I was happy to start my journey at The Kino Cafe
MoreThe staff and comedians at The Kino are TOP NOTCH. A real standout is Alex Biron. His comedic timing and references are top notch. Normally I don’t find “hot guys” that funny but Alex is really the exception. I guess some dudes just really have it all. Keep hosting a great show Alex!
MoreWould that there were more than five stars to give! Food is great, the entertainment is world class and the people are fantastic. Steve, the owner, is one of the most genuinely sweet and caring human beings I have ever met. Little can be written to properly capture the amount of positivity and support Laura and Steve have brought to the Vancouver stand up comedy community. Without their continuing selfless investment in the comedy scene the incredibly high standard of stand up talent coming out of this city would likely be in jeopardy. Why are you still reading this? Go to the Kino now for great food, great service and some of the best stand up comedy the city has to offer.
MoreThe flamenco performance is amazing. The owner and personnels are very friendly, kind and helpful. Deducted one star for food and drinks quality. I really hate to say the food was terrible. Better food and beverage is/are the only thing you need to get more customers.
MoreGreat restaurant with Guinness on tap and good food. Give the smoked salmon pizza a try, it's exactly what it sounds like. Come for standup comedy on Monday or Tuesday, the best comics in the city perform there regularly and sometimes even famous touring headliners drop in on Tuesday.
MoreSteve is an invaluable asset to our cultural community!!
Very helpful and polite staff. The food isnot the best and its not the cleanest place, but fun atmosphere for a drink and a night out with friends. Would definitely go again.
MoreGreat for a bite while watching an eclectic mix of entertainment
Server ignored me. Huge lineup. Owner hanging around while people were waiting. Decent beer, clean place.
MoreGreat little cafe for flamenco dancing and comedy. Good selection of taps but also sangria! Fun vibe and very nice owner.
MoreIf I lived on Cambie nearby, I can definitely imagine myself being a regular at the bar. I find the idea of being a lonely patron drinking and making small talk with the wait staff oddly appealing. In practice, I'm sure it sucks to be alone. Anyways, I had one Guiness. It was good. Thanks.
MoreOne of the few places in Vancouver with live dancing entertainment. It’s a unique spot with flamenco dancing, music and comedy. The owner was so friendly and talked to his patrons at their tables. They serve tapas. The menu selection was not great and the food was not anything to rave about unfortunately. I expected it to be better plated and more creatively presented. The entertainment makes up for the shortfall in the food experience.
MoreSip on drinks while you enjoy a live flamenco performance. Hard to go wrong with that.
MoreWhen was the last time the owner of a restaurant came over to personally thank you for visiting? not only did I see the owner personally visit every single table, he consistently checked on the whole restaurant to make sure people could see the live show and had received their food or drinks. It's encouraging to see little local places like this thriving, supporting local artists and providing a warm and welcoming casual place to go out. The dress was very casual. The crowd was mixed young and old given how late the show starts, there we're even some kids there and older grandparent aged people. Something I didn't know is the preformers would be collecting tips between sets if I had known I would have brought more cash, a decent selection of 5$ bills would have been a good idea.
MoreLovely atmosphere great pints !
Wonderful ambience. Awesome location. Fun place to have beer. Great place for comedy for newcomers and established comic alike. I love performing at this place.
MoreBest nachos PERIOD.The chicken wings were only few. I wish they had more wings..Overall, my experience here was amazing.
MoreWonderful! The flamenco dancing is legit, and the staff is great. If you get the chance to sit and chat with the owner, do it, he's a gem of a human and has some really solid stories :)
MoreI have been coming to the Kino for many years to enjoy comedy and flamenco. The service is awesome, the staff are always warm and welcoming, and the owner Steve goes out of his way to make sure we have a great experience! I love sipping wine with friends on the patio, and then moving inside for the live entertainment and yummy food. What a treasure this place is!
MoreThis is one of my favourite places in the city. Great beer selection, great food and excellent entertainment. Steve (the owner) is a huge supporter of the arts scene and offers his place up for fundraiser shows most notably the 24 hour comedy marathon last summer to raise money for wild fire relief. That morning Steve personally made me breakfast at 6:30 AM. This place is an institution for the local comedy scene and I'm told people like the flamenco.
MoreFun place! Friendly owner and great entertainment!
This place is nice and has great events and staff but nothing a gluten-sensitive person can eat.
MoreGood food, nice chilled atmosphere, Monday night excellent open mic for comedy!
Reasonably-priced food and fun entertainment
It can be hard to get seats for more than two people if it's busy, but the food was amazing and the entertainment was great. The owner came over and talked to us for a bit and told us of the different events they do. I definitely recommend the smoked salmon pizza!
MoreIncredible flamenco night that deserves to be even more popular than it already is. The food and drink is decent too with friendly service. A true gem in Vancouver. Treasure it before it gets turned into condos 😣
MoreBar staff was amazing! And the comedians were super funny. However, the entrance/hostess stand was uncomfortable. I applauded in agreement with the comedy staff (no heckling or anything) and they were super unsupportive of my encouragement to the comedians.
MoreVery cool spot I happened to stumble upon. They have both flamenco and stand up nights which can lighten up your meal or drink. Will recommend the antipasti platter and their pizza. The owner is an exceptionally hospitable man and really cares about the clients as he takes some time to talk to every single guest.
MoreReal talent... romantic atmosphere.
Always eclectic , the kino has late week maracha and gypsy dancing as a common attraction. Beer selection is decent and food is good but its hard to know they serve food when you walk in. You gotta ask as they dont usually have table servers to infirm you.
MoreWe are locals in the neighborhood, and decided to give this “tapas” place a try. Food was mediocre. We came here for dinner and ordered tapenade, bruschetta, smoked salmon, patatas bravas and the lamb. The tepenade was good, the bruschetta was overpriced for diced tomatoes on bread with a shaving of Parmesan, the patatas were decent but came with a pizza sauce marinara dipping sauce from a can, and the lamb was over cooked, but palatable. We had a pitcher of sangria, which wasn’t bad, but was primarily apples and ice. Overall bad experience. There is much better fare in the area, don’t waste your time here.UPDATE: we went to Rain or Shine a block down for dessert, which instantly washed away the terrible experience at Kino.
MoreSuch an intimate little place. The owner is truly invested and comes around to basically everyone to say hi through the evening. They have some great shows, I've been here for comedy and for flamenco - both were outstanding and fully packed!
MoreGreat spot owned by a long time home grown Canadian man who treats his employees really good, my buddy works there and for the 2nd time so speaks volumes about the owner. He had the world's best flamenco dancer there so I'd recommend this place to see some amazing talent. Foods good and drinks won't break the bank 👍.
MoreStaffs are great. Environment is awesome. Every weekend there is flamingo dance and dancers are perfect if you like this kind of dance. Price wise it is same as any other place. Beers are $6 or $7. They do have pitchers for beer and sangria. I like the place personally.
MoreGreat tasting tapas, drinks and of course flamingo dancing. My first time experiencing this dance. Felt ecstatic while being mesmerized by the rhythmic dancing along with the impressive guitar playing. I think it was the owner that greeted us but congrats on continuing this fare for another few years. Encouraging everyone to support this little gen in the community. FYI bring bills for gratuity for the dancers as there is no entrance fee. Make reservations.
MoreThe BEST nachos in TOWN. The owner is so nice and friendly. He is super supportive of the comedy scene. A FUN place to be ALL week.
MoreMiss this place ever since moving away from Vancouver! Steve is a great dude and it's a fantastic place for comedy whether you're there to watch or perform; especially on special shows like the anniversary or when a particularly prominent pro drop-in comes by, it's legitimately one of the best places in the PNW for stand-up.Plus it's just cozy and comfortable with good beer and people. In other words, it's just a lovely place.
